Ratings system

Although ratings are subjective, we've tried to provide a guide to how hard each aspect is so you can get a feel for things and make an informed decision. Each rating is out of 5 with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest.

Technical rating
1 - walking
2 - mainly walking with the occasional need to use hands but no technical equipment
3 - scrambling/easy climbing with technical equipment but no experience required
4 - easy technical climbing with technical equipment but with some previous experience required
5 - technical climbing with technical equipment and several trips with us before hand required

Endurance rating 2/5
1 - Single day trips with 3/4 length days
2 - Single day trips with full length days
3 - 2 day trips with 3/4 length days
4 - 2 day trips with long days
5 - Multi-day trip with full length days

Temperature rating 3/5*
1 - Very cold climates like those found in Polar Regions
2 - Cold climates like those found in the Alps
3 - Medium climates like those found in the UK
4 - Warm climates like those found in Asia
5 - Hot climates like those found in Africa

*With any mountain based adventures, temperatures can sore and plummet plus extreme weather is not unusual. You'll be sent a specific and complete kit list on signing up.

General questions

How fit do I need to be?
You need to have a reasonable level of fitness for this adventure as you'll be walking for most of the day.

What kit do I need?
We'll send you a full kit list when you book but for this adventure, no technical climbing kit is required.

How old do I need to be?
We cater for all age ranges from as young as 14.

Can I come on my own?
Of course you can! It’s the best way to make new adventure friends!

What is not included?
- Any meals (apart from a packed lunch is included in all full days with us)
- Accommodation
- Travel to and from the start/finish of the trek
- Snacks and drinks
- Car parking fees

How many others will there be?
There is no limit to participants but we stick to a max of 10 adventurers to 1 qualified guide. We need a minimum number of adventurers and if we don't reach that number, the adventure may be rearranged or refunded. We can not accept liability for people's flights and hotels etc.

What if I have special dietary requirements?
Of course, during the booking phase, you will be asked about dietary requirements and we'll do everything we reasonably can to meet them.

What’s the weather like?
The weather in the mountains can turn very quickly from glorious sunshine to snow and sideways winds. You'll find a comprehensive kit list in your booking confirmation that will help you prepare for the worst.

Fees, cancellations and refunds

Processing fees
We pass on processing fees from Eventbrite (our registration provider) to provide you with consumer protection for goods and services purchased. We have negotiated a discounted rate on your behalf of 2% payment processing + 3% service fee (not including VAT) standard fees are 5.5% + £0.49 (not including VAT). The total amount including fees will be made clear to you before completing your transaction.

Cancellations and refunds
Notice of cancellation by you must be given in writing (email is acceptable). Should you cancel, the following scale of charges will apply:
- Total trip cost of under £250:
-- 60 days or more before the Departure Date – loss of 50% of the total trip cost, including any extension.
-- Less than 60 days before the Departure Date – loss of 100% of total trip cost, including any extension.
- Total trip cost of £250 or greater:
-- 60 days or more before the Departure Date – loss of deposit.
-- 30 days or more but less than 60 days before the Departure Date – loss of 50% of total trip cost, including any extension.
-- Less than 30 days before the Departure Date – loss of 100% of total trip cost, including any extension.

Similar cancellation terms are adopted throughout the travel industry and cover the costs of advance payments made by MMG, and the effect of your booking having prevented others from taking your place. Cancellation charges may be covered, in part, by your travel insurance provided the reason for cancellation falls within the terms of the policy.

Transfers to other MMG trips
Transferring to another MMG trip will be made in the same vein as our cancellation and refund policy.

Transfers to other participants
Transferring a booking to another participant is available up to 7 days before a trip. There is a £20 transfer fee which covers our administration costs.
